Veteran producer and engineer Jonathan Bierman is best known for his long running omni-genre electronic music project, Dark Arps. Originally inspired by the slew of groundbreaking acts that arose from the UK’s DnB and triphop scenes in the 90’s, his tastes evolved to incorporate nu-skool breaks, progressive, and techno. Timeless acts such as Hybrid, Underworld and The Prodigy were influential role models that forged in him an equal commitment to musicality, high production standards and of course, dance-ability. Throughout the 2000’s he spent eight years producing, engineering, touring and performing with one of the UK’s first truly live DnB-breakbeat acts, Keiretsu, rocking dance floors all across Britain, from Edinburgh to Brighton. As well, during this period he continued to produce, remix and collaborate with an endless variety of electronic and traditional acts, giving him a diverse pool of influence from which to draw inspiration.

Lokisphere is a far more experimental side project of Bierman's that inspired an epic three-part album of ambient and sci-fi soundscapes of the same name. Each part was composed and then recorded live in a single take, using his "Audioship", a tightly integrated machine of machines. The music emerged in as direct a way as possible, from hand to machine to zeroes and ones, to flow anonymously across the vast wastes of transmitted data, fleeting yet permanent, as music in the digital age.

For this event, Bierman will be performing an extended three hour improvised set in similar stylings to his three part Lokisphere conceptual release. Pack your onesie and pillows, lay down and enjoy an extended sonic expedition unlike any you have experienced before.

EVENT DETAILS:

Recommended attire: "Onesie Chic"

This will be a horizontal experience. There will be foamies throughout the space for people to lounge and lay on, as well as pillows and some blankets, but please feel free to bring your own to ensure maximum comfort. You are welcome and encouraged to wear pyjamas to the venue, or bring them to change into before the performance. Please also feel free to bring a pillow and blanket for maximum comfort, if you wish.

Respecting other guest's personal space:

As this will be a horizontal experience with all the guests laying throughout the venue on foamies, people will naturally be quite physically close to each other. While physical touch and cuddling will obviously be present throughout the course of the performance, please respect people's physical space as much as possible, especially with those you may not already have a more physically intimate relationship with. Whenever in doubt, simply ask if your place / position in the collective is comfortable with those around you <3

Shoes and personal belongings:

We kindly request that you remove your shoes when on the crash mats or leaving the room to go to the washroom. The venue is a yoga studio, so shoes are not permitted anywhere else in the space. We will also be providing coat racks to hang your jackets on, and there will be plenty of space to put bags or any other personal belongings.

Washrooms:

There is a washroom located inside the building, but outside the specific room we are using. If you need to use the washroom during the performance, please do so very quietly and do your best not to step on anyone around you during your exit and re-entrance to the collective. Please note that other than using the washroom, or emergencies, ins and outs will not be permitted in order to minimize any possible disruption to the group experience.

Food & Beverages:

We will be providing tea and a selection of delicious and healthy snacks before and after the performance. Please feel free to bring any food or snacks you wish as well.

Unfortunately no liquor license is available for this venue, we will not be providing any drinks aside from tea and water. You are welcome to bring your own beverages. However, as alcohol is not permitted, if you decide to bring your own we kindly ask that you be discrete when bringing it into the venue and consuming it. We will have paper cups on hand for you to use. Thank you for your understanding.

Time, Space, and Mind Altering Substances:

It is plausible that people may want to partake in various mind altering / journey enhancement substances during the performance. This is acceptable to the artists and promoter however, for obvious reasons the venue obviously cannot condone or allow the consumption of anything illegal. This being said, we kindly ask that if you are going to consume anything of this nature, please do so discretely. Vapes are not permitted. For those who need to take a step out of the venue to have a smoke or get some air, please do your best to be quiet in order to minimize any possible disruption to the group experience.

Thank you for your kind attention. Look forward to seeing you all there!
